Knapsacks vs Fanny packs:

As most of you are aware, Scotia Zone has been allowing various types of knapsacks to be used as first aid kits. The only criteria to this use was approval by the zone executive education/training officer. Several patrollers have had their knapsacks approved for use. This approval was subject to the knapsack having the large CSPS crest attached to it. It has been brought to my attention that some have not affixed the large CSPS crest to their knapsacks prior to use.

Therefore, this is to advise you, if you do not have the large CSPS crest attached to your knapsack you are not permitted to use it while patrolling. No Exceptions!

We must endeavor to maintain our professional image at all times while patrolling the hills and having a knapsack without the proper cresting on it falls short in this regard. Martock Patrol will make available one or two fanny packs stocked with first aid supplies for those patrollers who do not have the authorized crest on their back packs or who show up at the hill and have forgotten their fanny pack at home. These packs will be available from the ranger on duty and must be returned to them at the end of your shift. Any questions on this please feel free to contact me at any time.

Sandy Gillis
